If I have the Chinese, Japanese, or Korean version of Windows and I encounter Chinese, Japanese, or Korean characters during the test, what should I do?

There have been several reported instances of Chinese, Japanese, or Korean characters appearing in several questions during the TOEFL test in POWERPREP for people using these versions of Windows. If this occurs, click on Quit Test and follow the steps to quit the test. Exit the software program. After completing the following procedure, you will be able to resume the test at the point this happened with no loss of time for the remainder of the test.

Open Windows Explorer. If you installed POWERPREP to the default directory, C:ETS, go to the ETS directory. If you named another directory, go to that directory. Then go to PPTOEFL, then to PPREP. Find the file ITEMDISP.DLL. Click on File, then Rename. Rename the file ITEMDISP.OLD. Next, click on the filename below and save it into the ETSPPTOEFLPPREP directory (C:ETSPPTOEFLPPREP if you used the default directory).
